The members of our area belong
to the Research Group in Fluid Engineering and Environmental
Science (GREFEMA), which
focuses its research activities on Fluid Mechanics,
both computational –CFD- and experimental.
Our researchers work in different fields.
Some topics in the experimental field are:
- Predictive maintenance techniques
based on fluid analysis: lubricants, combustibles
and refrigerants.
- Methodologies and measurements
in working environments: residue minimisation, environmental
quality control
- Flowrate measurement techniques
in free flow: measurement weirs, flowmeters, system
head curves.
Our research topics in the CFD field
are:
- CFD algorithm and code development
for the simulation of the incompressible flow / supersonic,
laminar / turbulent.
- Predictive engineering methodologies
based on CFD: discrete and applied finite element
method.
- Computational optimization and
design.
- Computational techniques useful
for CFD: parallelization, grid computing, domain decomposition,
adaptability, etc.
- Fields of application: turbo-machines,
aeronautics, automotive, biotechnology, environmental,
etc.
